Fantasy can be tough in Week 1.

Everyone's looking for an advantage when we don't have much to go on.

But there's no reason to overthink it.

Week 1 DraftKings Locks w/ @allinkid 👇

Quarterback: Jalen Hurts ($6800 on DK):

Some good outcomes in play for this price.

Hurts was regularly a top 3-4 scorer in '21.

Now he gets to see the Lions D.

Yes, he will get his rush yds, but I wouldn't be shocked to see him hit the 300 bonus.

The price just doesn't make sense here.

It makes him a good solo play, or easy to stack with A.J. Brown or Goedert.

He won't be this cheap again. Take advantage now.

Running Back: Joe Mixon ($7100 on DK):

The matchup here is truly unconcerning. PIT has the potential to go sideways.

But even if they don't, Mixon has top-10 potential.

We know he'll be in the mix for RZ carries.

We also know he'll be on the field in a pass-heavy game flow.

You're saving tons of capital compared to JT or CMC. He's an optimal play.

RB: Dameon Pierce ($4800 on DK):

Houston probably doesn't want Davis Mills to throw 50 passes, so I think they'll run.

Pierce is THE guy in the backfield. In fact,

If there's an RB at this price point who may get 20 touches, it's him.

There's a caveat here though.

You may want to fade him if Darius Leonard plays for Indy.

He's a game changer in the run game.

In that case, your plan B should be Travis Etienne.

Regardless…

WR: Michael Pittman ($5500 on DK):

Can you believe the price?

I had to do a triple take to make sure it was real.

I know these were set long ago, but still.

Pittman is well within the top 20 WRs, and has upgraded to Matt Ryan.

He's the WR1 in a very good offense.

An offense that gets Houston this week.

He's a free square at WR. Put him in and build from there.

WR: Amon-Ra St. Brown ($6100 on DK):

It seems like people are scared away because they expect regression.

But until Jameson Williams returns, I don't see an issue.

He won't exactly be Goff's new Kupp, but,

Even 70% of that would be a great play at this cost.

TE: Zach Ertz ($4400 on DK):

This game itself may be popular considering the Chiefs are also involved.

If you want a piece of it, take Ertz.

Here's why:

When he came to the Cards, he was already a top-5 TE.

Then he saw massive volume when Hopkins was out.

Obviously, that's true here too.

TE: Irv Smith Jr. ($3400 on DK):

Irv was making noise in his second year, but we never saw the real upside.

He's now healthy.

He's also a matchup problem.

GB has good corners, but they struggle against TEs.

If they can slow down Jefferson, Irv could benefit from that.

It's crucial for him to show it soon

DEF: Cincinnati ($3600):

We've all seen Trubisky. We know what can happen here.

There's potential for sacks, turnovers, AND a lopsided score, forcing bad situations.

Okay... now that we have identified what some of the best "chalk plays" are...

How can we get different in tournaments on DraftKings in Week 1?

Glad you asked.

I broke down the best GPP pivots with @TJHernandez here 👇

Tournament Plays of the Week:

QB: Justin Herbert ($7600 on DK):

This game has an O/U of 52 and a spread of 3.5.

That gives the Chargers an implied total of 27.75. It's a decent look.

But why else go with Herbert?

His ownership will be far lower than guys like Lamar or my guy Hurts.

In fact, he could be under 5%.

The Chargers cumulative ownership is as low as 9th, despite the implied point total.

And LA was top-10 in pass EPA per play.

Looking to stack?

Mike Williams ($6,600) could be a nice option.

People will pay for the RBs, but Williams could come in at sub-10% ownership.

He's also facing one of the most targeted CBs in football- with a massive size adv.

Flip those popular Raiders stacks.

Use Herbert to get a leg up.

Herbert's PrizePicks O/U is 280.5 yards.

I think he gets there this week.

RB: Derrick Henry ($8600 on DK):

People are cold on the Big Dog.

He is coming off injury, after all.

But he's going to carry the ball a lot this week. And he's cheaper than CMC and JT.

The Titans are 5.5 home favorites.

The Giants were 31st in rush EPA per play.

Henry will probably come in at lower than 15% ownership.

He wins if JT fails to produce in week 1.

TE: Mo Alie-Cox ($3400 on DK):

If your opponents are stacking Colts, it usually won't be with Mo.

Pittman is dirt cheap,

And Taylor is who he is.

But consider…

Matty Ice can support a popular TE correlation. It's happened before.

Indy's favored by 7.5, so Alie-Cox is a sneaky play that could pay off big.

DEF: Jacksonville ($2500 on DK):

Jags D could become popular this week.

The line has moved in their favor,

But with Antonio Gibson a likely popular play, this is a good contrarian pick.
