WE ARE BACK.

Fantasy football chalk talk to go with your Monday coffee!

Today in 5 minutes or less, you’ll learn:

  • Lawrence’s stock continues to rise 📈

  • Tennessee’s tremendous TE 💪

  • Saints’ Olave’s heavenly rise 😇

  • As much mid-July NFL news you’ll find 🏈

Trevor Lawrence (JAX), ADP 66.4, QB8:

Lawrence has done nothing but improve his game since Urban Meyer’s departure from DUVAL.

His splits from last season confirm. He improved in nearly every statistical passing category after Week 10:

• Fantasy PPG: 16.6 to 19.7

• Yards per game: 230.6 to 254.8

• Completion Percentage: 64.3 to 67.2

(Stats from Rotoballer)

It’s worth noting that 19.7 PPG would have ranked 7th over the entirety of the 2022 season.

Lawrence was also 10th in total rush yards (291) and 5th in rushing TDs (5).

The Jags’ offense as a unit is also ready to explode.

Lawrence enjoyed the no. 1 protection rate in ‘22, despite playing behind a middle-of-the-pack O-line. That’s encouraging because if they can be serviceable in protection, Trevor can do his thing.

The list of skill players is long on fantasy targets:

• Calvin Ridley

• Travis Etienne

• Christian Kirk

• Evan Engram

Ridley is a huge upgrade from Marvin Jones, at least on paper, and if he can reach his pre-2021 form then the entire attack will benefit.

Lawrence is one of the best young passers in football, and I can’t wait to see what his Year 3 progression looks like.

The ceiling is unlimited.

I think with the new additions and the upward trend, he can throw a LOT of TDs this season, so I’m picking the OVER on PrizePicks of 26.5.

Chig Okonkwo (TEN), ADP 127.3, TE11:

Chig has seen some accolades thrown his way recently.

Pro Football Focus named him to their 2023 “All-Breakout Team,” and Bleacher Report called him the Titans’ “most promising building block.”

All of the hype is well-deserved after a terrific rookie year:

• 11th in ADOT (7.9)

• 2nd in target rate (33.3%)

• 1st in yards per route run (3.26)

• 1st in yards per reception (14.1)

• 3rd in contested catch rate (62.5%)

He’s got elite 96th percentile speed and had 7 broken tackles in just 32 catches.

Basically, if the Titans pass game was slightly better, Chig would be getting the same hype Kyle Pitts got last summer.

Ryan Tannehill is on no one’s short list of GREAT QBs, but he’s efficient when healthy and can absolutely support a solid fantasy TE.

Basically, look for Okonkwo to improve on his rookie year and take a big step forward for fantasy managers in 2023.

Chris Olave (NO), ADP 19.2, WR12:

OIave’s rookie season was as good as it gets in the NFL.

He recently made the top-10 in PFF receiving grades, due to his 2022 popping off:

• 4th in deep targets (29)

• 3rd in air yards share (40.8%)

• 5th in unrealized air yards (845)

• 10th in yards per route run (2.57)

Also 12th in route win rate (48.1%)

Olave gained 1,042 yards in 15 games last season. Of all 21 rookie WRs to get 900 or more yards, 17 of them had a top-15 fantasy season the following year.

(per Pro Football Network)

That’s encouraging for this guy.

Derek Carr doesn't exactly set the world ablaze, but he did support Davante Adams as WR3 in PPR last season and was 5th in air yards and deep ball attempts.

That will bode well for Olave who will continue to be open deeper down the field.

It’s also encouraging to think that maybe, just maybe, Michael Thomas will be out there across from Olave taking up space in opposing defenders’ minds.

I guess we’ll all believe it when we see it.

Still, Olave is 23, on a serious rising curve, and about to put the league on notice. Again.
