Can they challenge Jefferson?

WE ARE BACK.

Saturdays in July are PERFECT for fantasy football drafts.

Today in 5 minutes or less, you’ll learn:

  • Who is the Alpha Seahawk? 🤔

  • Which guy is old reliable in LA 💪

  • Mile High expectations for Jeudy 🏔

  • NFL fantasy-relevant news 🏈

DK Metcalf (SEA), ADP 28.8 WR15:

I don’t talk enough about Metcalf and how much of a monster he really is.

You’ve seen his physique, right?

Aside from that, here’s his opportunity numbers from ‘22:

• 12th in deep targets (24)

• 11th in total targets (141)

• 2nd in red zone targets (27)

• 10th in air yards share (36.3%)

Solid stuff. But there are signs he maybe didn’t quite reach his expected potential as well.

Despite that RZ target number, Metcalf experienced TD regression, scoring just 6 times after posting double-digits the two prior seasons.

He was also 9th in unrealized air yards (811) and 17th in route win rate (46.3%), suggesting there’s room to grow.

Geno Smith is currently enjoying a satisfying career revival and recently called Metcalf “the best in the world.”

(Seahawks Wire)

That’s high praise from a QB who now looks to have one of the better WR groups in the league.

If the pieces fit, Metcalf will be in the top-tier in ‘23.

Metcalf should reach 1,000 yards again, so I’m taking the OVER on his PrizePicks futures prop for 2023.

Keenan Allen (LAC), ADP 35.7, WR19:

I get it. Age and durability are concerns.

But when Allen was on the field he proved he was elite.

From Week 13 on, he had 4 top-12 PPR finishes in 6 games, while averaging 11.3 targets and 8.3 catches.

He was under 88 yards just once in that span.

Zooming out, he hasn’t finished worse than WR11 in fantasy PPG since 2016, when he only played in one single contest.

Over the whole of 2022, in a high-powered offense:

• 12th in RZ targets (16)

• 8th in target separation (2.18)

• 13th in yards per route run (2.35)

• 11th in fantasy points per game (16.4)

The guy missed 7 games in 2022, which is hurting the ADP.

But in the span between 2016 and 2021, he only missed 3 total games due to injury. Overall, that’s a great track record.

There are lots of people anticipating guys’ downfalls once they hit 30, and there might be some merit to that.

Allen has shown no real signs of decline when he’s going at full speed. His offense will continue to hum and he’ll continue to see targets and create production.

You’re still getting a WR1 with him.

Jerry Jeudy (DEN), ADP 40.8, WR21:

Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

Jeudy is a guy who can get open and produce. With a wildly inaccurate Russell Wilson at the helm:

• 9th in yards per target (9.7)

• 16th in yards per route run (2.29)

• 19th in fantasy points per game (13.6)

• 13th in fantasy points per target (2.04)

As much as I’ve been touting Courtland Sutton as a great value, Jeudy is probably the first option in Denver.

There’s a lot of love going on out there at the moment:

Jeudy called Russ a “soldier” who has a big year coming up.

Sean Payton said Jeudy is explosive, and that he’s been working on certain aspects of his game.

And if the team revival happens like so many of us expect, then the upside for Jeudy is virtually unlimited.
