Weekly countdown time: 9 Sundays until NFL Football!

Today in 5 minutes or less, you’ll learn:

  • Potential holdouts who are still elite 🙌

  • Undervalued stars ⭐️

  • Late-round values 💰

  • Player news from around the league 📰

Saquon Barkley (NYG), ADP 18.3, RB6:

Saquon is the centerpiece of the Giants’ offense and got some very healthy usage when he was finally healthy in ‘22:

• 5th target share (17.2%)

• 2nd in snap share (79.9%)

• 7th in total receptions (57)

• 3rd opportunity share (80.1%)

It all led to a 5th-place finish in fantasy PPG (17.8).

Even though he was 5th in yards created, with 1,014, he’s been working out at a facility in Phoenix to recover some of the speed and burst he had coming into the league.

According to PlayerProfiler, his speed score was in the 100th percentile and his burst score was in the 98th.

The issue here is the possibility of a holdout if the team and Saquon can’t agree on a deal by July 17th.

However, it’s in the interest of both sides to get it done.

Draft him and expect high-level production.

Josh Jacobs (LV), ADP 28, RB10:

Jacobs was standard RB1 and PPR RB3!

It was on the back of his elite usage:

• 11th in targets (65)

• 9th in RZ touches (45)

• 2nd in total carries (340)

• 1st in opportunity share (83.7%)

He was also the NFL’s rushing leader with 1,653 yards.

With usage and production like that, the Raiders need the guy on the field to produce.

Zamir White, Ameer Abdullah, and Brandon Bolden haven’t come close to the type of star power Jacobs has shown.

If the team can’t get a deal done, the risk is a training camp holdout that could last well into the season.

Raiders fans and fantasy fans hope that doesn’t happen. He’s well worth the RB10 spot.

Aaron Jones (GB), ADP 53.5, RB17:

I’ve written about Jones a good amount this summer. He’s still undervalued for sure.

Jones can move and create yards with the best in the world:

• 14th in juke rate (29.4%)

• 9th in evaded tackles (80)

• 6th in total receptions (59)

• 9th in target share (13.4%)

• 15th in breakaway run rate (6.6%)

While fantasy managers worry about A.J. Dillon taking some of the touches away, particularly in the red zone, there’s no threat to Jones’s passing game usage.

Dillon was a distant 43rd in route participation and 29th in target share.

Jones will be pivotal for Jordan Love's adjustment to starting QB, and provide a valuable outlet underneath.

On top of it all, he recently won a spot in the world cornhole championship tournament to be held in early August.

The guy is practically Bo Jackson.

With this in mind, I think a 5th-round ADP could end up being a value.

I don’t see a scenario where Jones doesn’t reach the OVER on his PrizePicks futures pick of 799.5 rush yards.

Miles Sanders (CAR), ADP 64, RB20:

Sanders has been a talented back his whole career, and still showed some good pop in 2022:

• 5th in rush yards (1,269)

• 9th in total touchdowns (11)

• 14th in true yards per carry (4.7)

One thing that’s been missing from his game is the passing work. As a rookie he caught 50 balls, but no more than 28 in a season since.

Well, now he’s reunited with his old RB coach Duce Staley in Carolina, which may help him recover some of that production, especially with a young QB who will need to learn to check down.

A lot of managers are higher on Chuba Hubbard at the moment, but he had the 61st opportunity share in ‘22, sitting behind D’Onta Foreman once Christian McCaffrey left.

I think Sanders is a good candidate to improve on his 12.7 PPR points per game, owing to being on a team with fewer mouths to feed.

He’s definitely a great target for a zero-RB strategy.

Cam Akers (LAR), ADP 68.8, RB22:

Akers got really hot at the end of the season, starting in Week 14 when he got his bell cow role back.

Had 3 top-10 weeks, including best of the slate in Week 16.

In his final 3 games:

• Routes went from 5 to 15 per game

• Carries went from 10.4 to 21 per game

Sean McVay has had some success with his RBs, and that’s translated well to fantasy football.

Darrell Henderson is no longer with the team, which will help Akers, although they did sign Sony Michel.

Despite the lack of passing game work (just 18 targets in 2022), Akers is a value at this point in the draft and has the upside to produce.

Rachaad White (TB), ADP 83.1, RB26:

With no Leonard Fournette to compete with, White is the no. 1 guy in Tampa.

From Weeks 10-17, when he really started to siphon touches, he posted a solid 12.6 PPR points per game.

He was also:

• 12th in targets (58)

• 21st in yards per route run (1.19)

• 14th in stacked front carry rate (17.1%)

Sure, there are questions in a new system with a new QB.

Assuming Baker Mayfield starts, he has supported pass-catching backs like Kareem Hunt in the past.

I expect White to solidify himself as a quality fantasy choice this year and going forward.

As long as his 38.2% opportunity share rises, which it will without Fournette, he’ll be in the mix for solid work.

Damien Harris (BUF), ADP 115.1, RB38:

Harris’s stock is suffering from a relocation, a string of injuries in ‘22, and losing hype to Rhamondre Stevenson.

But, there’s plenty to like here about the new Buffalo Bill.

Despite being hobbled, he still boasted the no. 8 juke rate.

And back in ‘21, he was a top-10 guy in:

• TDs (15)

• Total rush yards (929)

• Breakaway run rate (6.9%)

Devin Singletary earned himself 40 RZ touches (13th), and only scored 6 total times.

James Cook is shifty but projects more as the 3rd-down role. Those RZ touches may very well go to Harris.

If they do, and Harris is closer to his ‘21 form, he’ll be well worth the pick.
