Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills (-2.5)

This is the clear game to circle on today’s slate. Divisional rivals, the top-2 teams in DVOA, the top-2 teams in points scored per drive. It’s pretty clear this matchup will go a long way in how the AFC East ultimately shakes up.

Fantasy Life’s game hub for this one shows some big-play potential for both teams’ running games, and some absolutely bonkers offensive ratings. This should be fun.

Rich Hribar (@LordReebs) and I broke down this game from a fantasy standpoint on YouTube. Here are all the players we discussed and what you need to know going in.

WR: Jaylen Waddle (MIA)

He was probably bummed to have missed the 70-point game last week, but Waddle has cleared concussion protocol and will be back on the field for this Miami offense.

From a DFS standpoint, people will want to pay up for Tyreek Hill, and even Stefon Diggs on the other side of the ball. But Waddle’s two games against Buffalo last year suggest he’s primed for a big day. In those 2, he had 216 yards and a TD.

And while he doesn’t quite have Hill’s volume, he’s averaging over 20 yards per catch. Big play potential.

WR: Tyreek Hill (MIA)

I’m not even sure I need to say much here. Hill is performing at an absolutely historic level.

His weighted opportunity rating is 89.8% right now, suggesting he’s getting virtually all of the valuable targets. And that goes back to last season too. With Tua, Hill’s numbers are insane:

  • 35% target share

  • 44% air yards share

  • 3.74 yards per route run

Those numbers are ALL better than 2021 Cooper Kupp.

RBs: De’Von Achane/Raheem Mostert (MIA)

Achane had his coming out party as the shiny new toy with Salvon Ahmed out in Week 3. The question is whether or not these guys are going to continue to split reps. It makes it really tough to choose between them, which will at least keep their ownership down in DFS.

Mike McDaniel has proven without a doubt he knows how to utilize these speed guys. Either one of them is a solid fantasy play this week.

QB: Tua Tagovailoa (MIA)

Tua has had success against this Bills team already.

Last year, they tried to blitz him and disrupt him in the pocket. It didn’t really seem to matter. In those 2 matchups:

  • 30-for-48

  • 3 TDs, 0 INTs

  • 111.5 QB rating

We don’t know how they’ll try to defend him today, but we know it won’t be easy to contain him.

QB: Josh Allen (BUF)

Let’s not forget the Bills are actually favored here, and the offense starts with Allen. He’s got the squad ranked 2nd in the league in points per drive and his career numbers against the Dolphins are terrific.

In 11 starts:

  • 9-2 record

  • 30 passing TDs

  • Averaging 58 rushing yards

  • Multiple pass TDs in every game

  • Averaging 27 fantasy points per game

The Dolphins have faced two meh offenses in the Patriots and Broncos, and got shredded when they faced the Chargers, so really, we could be looking at some fireworks here.

WR: Stefon Diggs (BUF)

We have some good Diggs signals here.

He’s been targeted on 30.3% of his routes vs. zone coverage, and Miami plays zone at the 11th-highest rate, 72% of passing snaps.

The big thing about Diggs is that he really is the main character in that passing game. The other guys sort of fall in as pieces around him, but he’s the main guy with 30% of the targets.

Here’s his utilization from Fantasy Life:

For that kind of volume in this one, try and grab him.

TE: Dalton Kincaid (BUF)

We would love to see Kincaid move out of this acclimation period and start getting some more dynamic use in this offense.

He’s averaging just 3.4 air yards per target, and has just 2 targets that are 10 yards or further down the field. It’s just not who he was as a prospect coming into the league.

Hopefully Kincaid’s owners will see more of those deeper shots.

WR: Gabe Davis (BUF)

We know who Davis is at this point, and if we use him we’re probably chasing a TD. But he’s been on the field for 91% of Buffalo’s pass plays, and could always erupt in a game with higher volume.

He’s also a better performer against zone coverage, and with Miami playing more zone this season, he’s got a shot.

  • Travis Kelce MORE THAN 0.5 pass+rush+reception TD: Kelce has scored in both of his games so far, and he got a healthy 23% of his team’s air yards.

  • Garrett Wilson MORE THAN 4.5 receptions: In a game where the Jets are likely to be down, expect Zach to look Garrett’s way quite a bit.

  • Tyler Lockett MORE THAN 51.5 receiving yards: The Giants’ secondary has been exposed early this season and DK Metcalf is dealing with injured ribs, even though he carries no designation as of Friday.

  • Daniel Jones MORE THAN 267.5 pass+rush yards: He’s 3rd in carries per game and 4th in QB rush yards per game. Plus, the Seahawks are allowing the 6th-most yards per attempt.

  • Patrick Mahomes MORE THAN 275.5 pass yards: Mahomes should be able to get it done, even against a tough Jets’ D. The Chiefs should have plenty of opportunities with the football.
